Katarzyna Anna Kurek is the co-founder of the CEEGEO Initiative and an award-winning scientist specializing in the intersection of geothermal energy, regional development, and EU policy. Building a robust academic career across prominent EU universities, Katarzyna excels at bridging the gap between rigorous applied research, critical industries, and high-level policymaking. Drawing on her firsthand experience within EU institutions—including successfully authoring legislative amendments in the European Parliament—she translates scientific insights into actionable energy diplomacy strategies for the CEE region. Her work ensures that geothermal is elevated from a research option to a strategic infrastructure asset in the region’s financial frameworks. Today, she chairs Geotermia Polska and advises the World Bank and European Commission, leveraging her scientific expertise to shape regional energy markets and critical industry frameworks.
