Norbert Kurilla

He is an economist, senior executive and experienced diplomat with international leadership positions and expertise in policymaking, advisory and advocacy roles on environment, climate, sustainability or innovation within the EU, UN, OECD or at national level. Currently advises several clean tech startups, recently he also co-founded a growing heat pump installation company in Germany and is a Council Member at the European Council on Foreign Relations. Former Special Adviser to the President of Slovakia H.E. Zuzana Čaputová on climate, energy, environment and business. At the intersection of policy and business, he was one of the founders of impactful, business-driven “Circular Slovakia” platform. As a former Environment & Climate State Secretary and Management Board Member at the European Environmental Agency, he executed and supervised many strategic, transformative and complex policies, initiatives or projects on national and international level. He was in charge of the Environment and Climate Slovak Presidency to the EU and represented the EU externally in 2016, led and co-chaired OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in 2019 and was a very successful Vice-President of the sixth United Nations Environment Assembly during 2023-2024. Nowadays he also acts as Vice-Chair of OECD Green Action Task Force and holds supervisory board positions for young leaders and talents.
